Digital freelance work most in demand around the globe

If you don't have any digital skills, it's time to obtain some. The job categories that are most in demand at global marketplace Freelancer.com are all digital-related.

According to Australia-listed Freelancer, which owns the site, web and software development, web and graphic design, Internet marketing including search engine optimisation (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM) as well as online sales and content development incorporating corporate content and social media are the most active out of 600 job categories on the site.

The portal, which links businesses and freelancers, now has 10 million members, the company said. Over 5 million projects have been posted to date. Freelancer.com has positioned itself to take advantage of this growth by supporting more than 30 languages, the company said.

"In an increasingly competitive global market small businesses are turning to freelancers to outsource short term projects in skill categories they do not necessarily have the resources for. By tapping into a global talent pool like Freelancer.com, a small business can operate like a major corporation on a shoestring budget," said Freelancer CEO Matt Barrie.
