Vuclip's Viu serves an average of 20 videos monthly to Malaysia viewers

Vuclip, a PCCW Media company, has shared key engagement metrics for Viu, its over the top (OTT) service. The data is the result of analysing app and desktop viewership.

Since Viu launched in Malaysia two months ago:

The average Viu user watches 20 videos per month. The most active times are at night after work hours, with the most popular days being Wednesday through Sunday.

The top ten pieces of content consumed on Viu include Korean TV shows, Bollywood movies and Malaysian TV shows, which showcases consumer demand for the Best of Asian Entertainment.

Nine in 10 videos are watched with subtitles in both regional languages as well as English.

Kingsley Warner, General Manager of Vuclip Malaysia said: “We believe in focusing on non-vanity metrics that are consumer-focused to drive our business, meaning engagement time, retention rate and consumer reviews. While it is still early days for us with 60 days since our successful launch in Malaysia, the initial numbers around consumer engagement and our strategic partnerships are very exciting and validate our strategy to be a global service offering 'Best of Asian' content with a localised experience.”

Viu is a freemium service, with Malaysian viewers having access to thousands of hours of content for free. Viu premium service by subscription provides an advertising-free experience and additional premium content for RM10 per month. Content is available from regional and international marquee studios such as Primeworks Distribution, Media Prima, MD Entertainment Indonesia, Vision Plus Entertainment, Double Vision, Media Quiz, Huace, Media Asia, Transmedia and Caracol.
