In this second edition of the TPM Guest Curator series, Zaki produces a group exhibition featuring works of printmaking in different mediums by seven artists;: Miguel Chew, Weixin Chong, Mona Choo, Urich Lau, Nadia Oh, Shin-Young Park and Shih Yun Yeo.

The Guest Curator Series aims to facilitate and support independent and experimental curatorial practice, as well as to present different perspectives on our world.

Printmaking exhibitions tend to focus on traditional methods and the expanded practice of artists challenging convention on what is permissible, and demonstrating sophisticated control of process. This exhibition takes a different tack, that of a meta-analysis of the art of printmaking.

Zaki says, ‘One definite consensus made is not to realise a medium-based approach exhibition but rather, break open the closed system of perception in printmaking and to instill a point of discussion on the phenomenon of printing.

"This in turn, responds to the essence of the tradition and the emergence of the mechanism of multiplication and repetition, the context of its evolution and revolution, and what its consequence is in this day and age.’

In Repeat, Repeat, Repeat; revising the phenomenon of printing, artists revisit and redefine the history of printing by exploring techniques and elements, covering topics such as urban culture in the digital age, science and spirituality, robotics and ink, as well as biblical art.

The artists’ visual responses are symbolic visual cues along the journey of printing. They revisit what was before the invention of the Gutenberg printing press, and how printed matter has since influenced the human condition.

The Private Museum is a non-profit private museum in Singapore founded by Singaporean philanthropist, art collector and real estate developer, Daniel Teo, together with his daughter Rachel Teo in 2010. The museum supports the exchange of ideas across cultures, educational initiatives, artistic and curatorial collaborations with collectors and practitioners of the arts.
