The news follows Singtel's announcement the same week that it has secured broadcast rights for the 2016 UEFA European Championship, a prestigious and popular international football tournaments featuring players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Gerard Pique.
“Following the end of the Barclays Premier League season in May, football fans in Singapore can look forward to even more exhilarating football action from the UEFA Euro 2016, featuring all the top European teams and players,” said Goh at the time. "We are thrilled to bring full live coverage of this world-class tournament to fans in Singapore. Singtel TV is indeed the ‘Home of Football’.”
The opening, one semi-final and the final matches of UEFA EURO 2016 will be streamed free nationwide to anyone who downloads the Singtel TV GO app, Singtel said.
“We want to share a piece of the exciting UEFA Euro 2016 action with everyone in Singapore, as it will be a bigger tournament this time with more teams competing and more matches being held,” said Goh.
This is the first time 24 European teams will be competing in UEFA Euro 2016, with first-timers such as Iceland, Northern Ireland, Slovakia and Wales competing against favourites such as Germany, England, Spain and Italy.
Singtel's Football Fever 2016 Pack will include complete coverage of 51 UEFA Euro 2016 and 32 Copa America Centenario 2016 live matches in High Definition.
Existing Football Fever 2016 Pack subscribers will enjoy the full coverage of Copa America Centenario 2016 on the Football Fever channels at no additional cost. The Football Fever 2016 Pack is also available for a one-time charge of S$88*.
Customers who sign up for or renew their Trio, Variety or Value packs for 24 months will get the Copa America 2016 in addition to the UEFA Euro 2016 at no additional charge. Existing Singtel TV customers can renew** their current subscription with either a Trio Pack, Variety Pack or Value Pack on a 24-month contract to enjoy the coverage of UEFA Euro 2016 and Copa America Centenario 2016 for free. There will be no early termination charges for customers who are currently within a Singtel TV contract. Early termination charges will apply for customers downgrading to a lower-priced pack, however.
As a bonus, these customers can also watch all matches from the two tournaments for free on the Singtel TV GO app anytime. Using the app, they can follow live Copa America 2016 matches during the day and live UEFA Euro 2016 games at night on their mobile devices. Match fixtures and match replays will also be accessible via the app.
Customers who sign up or renew** their mio Stadium+ pack, including those on the cable TV platform, for 24 months are able to enjoy the matches of both tournaments via the Singtel TV GO app on their mobile devices, or stream the matches directly to their TV screens with the app's Chromecast and AirPlay.
Existing Singtel TV customers with a mio Stadium+ Pack subscription can renew** their current subscription with the mio Stadium+ Pack on a 24-month contract to enjoy full coverage of the UEFA Euro 2016 and Copa America Centenario 2016 on the Singtel TV GO app. There will be no early termination charges for customers who are currently within a Singtel TV contract. These customers - as well as customers who have legacy content packs - can also enjoy the Football Fever 2016 Pack for free by upgrading to any Value Pack with a 24-month contract.
StarHub customers may also sign up or recontract for a 24-month mio Stadium+ pack.
Singtel has been steadily boosting its portfolio of sports channels, including the launch of four new sports channels: Eleven, Eleven Sports, Eurosport and Eurosport News last July. Customers can follow the latest football action for major competitions, such as the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Serie A and FA Cup.
The Copa America tournament will feature an expanded 16 competing teams such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile, the US and Mexico in 32 matches held throughout the US from 3 to 26 June. The matches will be shown on Channel 141 in HD at 5.30am, 7.30am and 9am, with concurrent matches being shown on Channel 142.
The 51 UEFA Euro 2016 matches will be shown on Singtel TV on Channel 141 in HD. Matches will be screened from 10 June to 10 July at 9pm, midnight and 3am, with concurrent matches being shown on Channel 142.
*Charge includes GST. Additional charges apply for customers without any Singtel TV content pack subscriptions who sign up for the Football Fever 2016 Pack, and the equipment must be returned at the end of the competition period. Check the FAQ (PDF) for more information.
**Subscription renewal refers to terminating the current subscription without penalty, even if it has not reached the full 24-month tenure, and then starting over with a new 24-month contract.
