Intel Security looks to cloud to up consumer security protection

Intel Security has launched its 2017 consumer security lineup that better protects the devices people use every day. The centrepiece of the new portfolio is a next-generation anti-malware engine that offers more efficient and effective detection by offloading analysis to the cloud. In addition, McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security, McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe offer cross-device enhancements.

According to the McAfee Labs Threats Report: June 2016, new ransomware has increased 120% since Q115 and more than 4.7 billion records have been stolen since 2013*. With most consumers owning more than three connected devices and the increased volume of threats, it has become critical to implement security measures to protect data, especially as more devices are cloud-connected.

“People are enjoying more and more connected devices as part of everyday life – in their homes, in their cars and even in the things they wear,” said John Giamatteo, Corporate VP and GM at Intel Security. “This wave of new connectivity is exciting, and a reminder that security is more important than ever. We know our customers need solutions that protect their digital lives, particularly as connectivity continues to rise and threats continue to evolve. We’re dedicated to delivering innovative products designed to protect all manner of connected devices and the people who use them. Our 2017 lineup demonstrates this level of commitment.”

The 2017 McAfee product line provides protection for popular household devices – from PCs to Macs and smartphones to tablets – and is complemented by a new anti-malware engine to provide a more efficient and effective security solution.
