Huawei recreated an artistic studio at the Singapore launch of the HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS last week to bring home the unique features of its latest phones.

Built around the tagline Make every shot a cover shot*, the local launch event focused on the new-generation cameras co-engineered with Leica, with special guests Datuk Professor Jimmy Choo, OBE and Sunil Kaul, MD, Leica Camera Asia Pacific in attendance together with senior management from Huawei Technologies, Singapore.

“Building on the success of the P9 and Mate 9 series, we have co-engineered the new HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS with Leica to bring you the most advanced smartphone camera yet,” said Cheng Jiangfei, Country Head of the Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) in Singapore. “At Huawei, our tagline Make It Possible not only defines who we are, it also represents our commitment to delivering technology innovations and creating extraordinary experiences for consumers around the world.”

In addition to pop-up photography studio and product bars where guests could test and experience the new HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS, the event also featured a portrait gallery showcasing portraits shot by well-known photographers using the new P series smartphones.

Both were at a Young Designers’ Meet & Greet hosted by Huawei for selected students from School of Fashion. At a fireside chat during the event both designers emphasised the importance of cross-industry collaborations, citing the convergence of art, fashion, technology and music as the way forward for designers, citing Huawei’s partnership with the Pantone Colour Institute to introduce two new colours, Greenery and Dazzling Blue, in their latest HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS as an example. "There is nothing like hearing first-hand insider tips, advice, and insights from such a renowned designer. We are very proud that at LASALLE, our students gain a real breadth and depth of industry exposure to prepare them for the working world," said Ginette Chittick, Programme Leader, Diploma in Fashion, School of Fashion, LASALLE College of the Arts."

A combination of cutting-edge hardware and advancements in software, the HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS are engineered to perfectly complement modern lifestyles.

A new generation of cameras co-engineered with Leica to enhance portrait photography have been integrated into the P series smartphones which are available in a wide range of unique colours developed in partnership with the Pantone Color Institute.

The key capabilities of the Huawei P series centre on style, speed and shots. Feature highlights include the world’s first Hyper Diamond-Cut finishing, two new on-trend colours created together with Pantone, enhanced performance thanks to the new Huawei Ultra Memory, and improved camera systems co-engineered with Leica.

Hyper Diamond-Cut finishing involves a micro drill that precisely carves hundreds of thousands of overlapping millimetre-level grooves to recreate micro pyramid structures across the rear panel of the smartphone’s metallic body. The body is further anodised using anodic oxidation – a process that enriches the colour effect of the smartphone.

The fingerprint sensor is now concealed within the front panel of the phone and under a single layer of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Additionally it replaces the navigation bar thus making navigation smoother.

“We acknowledge today’s consumers are more connected than ever before, and the new HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS are designed to fit seamlessly into their lifestyles,” said Cheng Jiangfei, Country Head of Huawei Consumer Business in Singapore. “Content and innovative technology are an integral part of our daily lives. Hence, we have incorporated our latest technology advancements into the new P series smartphones with standout design and hardware features such as our cameras co-engineered with Leica that place a photography studio right in your pocket. We are committed to deliver the most amazing technology and customer experiences to our consumers in Singapore.”

The HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS are the first smartphones to feature an 8-megapixel Leica front camera. Together with an all-new sensor that captures more light in low-light environments, the Leica front camera simplifies group portraits thanks to an automatic wide angle mode. Building on the success of Huawei’s dual cameras co-engineered with Leica, the HUAWEI P10 and HUAWEI P10 PLUS are equipped with an improved dual-camera system featuring a high resolution 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12-megapixel colour sensor. High quality images are ensured despite low-light conditions thanks to optical image stabilisation technology.

The HUAWEI P10 PLUS features the advanced Leica Rear Dual-Camera 2.0 Pro Edition. The camera sports new Leica SUMMILUX-H lenses with a larger F/1.8 aperture to enable more light to be gathered in low-light conditions.
