Announcing changes to the blogs in 2019

Announcing a new editorial scope for the blogs, consolidated social media accounts, and a new URL for TechTrade Asia.

The new editorial scope

While I wanted TechTrade Asia's editorial scope to be inclusive, I felt that content had become too eclectic. This is why I started a new blog and split up tech content in terms of who may be most interested in it:

TechTrade Asia focuses on industry trends, service providers, manufacturing, company investments and channels - the aspects of the technology industry as an industry. TechTrade Asia will contribute occasionally to social media on the Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts for TechLifeAsia.

TechTouch Asia is a new part of the TechTrade Asia family. It will focus on a subset of TechTrade Asia's former editorial scope - how technology impacts enterprises of all sizes. This could be about products and services, rules and regulations, case studies, customer wins as well as industry trends.

What's also new is that this B2B blog accepts contributed content such as bylined articles. TechTouch Asia will also contribute to the TechLifeAsia social media accounts.

As far as possible, posts that are on TechTrade will not appear in TechTouch.

WorkSmart Asia, which has always been focused on working individuals, small office/home offices (SOHO) and microbusinesses, will continue to be about lifestyle topics where they intersect with business, including B2C technology. It will now take on more B2C aspects of technology such as gaming and e-sports. This blog, loosely affiliated with the Singapore Recommends Facebook page, will also contribute to the TechLifeAsia social media accounts for tech-related content.

The new editorial policies have been evolving since late February 2019, so what you now see on TechTrade, TechTouch and WorkSmart are pretty much already in the new editorial direction.

The new TechTrade Asia URL

I didn't renew the previous URL in time (my bad) but you do have a grace period - so my DNS registrar's tech support helped me with the renewal.. confirmed the URL was renewed.. and then couldn't explain why the URL disappeared after that.

After a week or so I decided things just weren't working out so I now have a new URL at www.techtradeasia.com. I love the new URL but this does mean that any links pointing to TechTrade Asia blog posts dated before mid-July 2019 will not work, sorry.

Deleting the archives

The TechTrade and WorkSmart blogs share the same storage as my Gmail account, and I am running out of free storage. As such I'm deleting pictures from 2014 onwards. I'll eventually move towards deleting pre-2019 posts off TechTrade as well so please archive what you need.

Social links

The links to the TechLife Asia social media accounts are:

Facebook: TechLife Asia
Instagram: techlifeasia
Twitter: techlifeasia

Ideally, what appears on the blogs should be replicated on social media but I'm still working towards that. Singapore Recommends is here
