Sony has announced two new car AV receivers, the XAV-AX6000 and the XAV-AX4000. Both in-car media receivers feature fully-wireless smartphone connectivity, so drivers can use their phones even when the devices are in a pocket.

Thanks to a Wi-Fi connection from the user’s smartphone, together with the supplied GPS antenna, voice control can be used to navigate, communicate and play music on the road.

Apple CarPlay integrates iPhones with the car audio’s display and controls, enabling users to make phone calls, access music, send and receive messages, get directions optimised for traffic and more while the driver stays focused on the road. Third-party navigation apps are supported with Apple CarPlay. Android owners can talk to Google on Android Auto and stay connected, entertained and informed while keeping their eyes on the road.

The XAV-AX6000 has a 6.95" bezel-less flush surface display with capacitive touch screen, while the XAV-AX4000 has an anti-glare touch screen.

The XAV-AX6000 also supports HDMI connectivity.
