OPPO has announced its latest camera phone, the R9s, to Singapore. The R9s is an upgrade to the R9, and sports an exclusive Sony IMX398 sensor, the all-new Dual PDAF (phase detection autofocus) technology, and an improved rear camera.

The OPPO R9s combines its predecessor’s popular selfie-snapping capabilities with a 16 MP rear camera which features the all-new Sony IMX398 custom sensor jointly developed by OPPO and Sony. Paired with an extra-wide f/1.7 aperture, the R9s is guaranteed to capture 40% more light than in previous generations.

The R9s Camera offers good performance even in low light. Thanks to its Dual PDAF technology, the rear camera offers both focusing speed and noise reduction. This new technology increases the area of the sensor’s pixel array by 100% when compared to standard PDAF solutions, making for faster focusing and clearer images.

The R9s continues OPPO’s commitment in bringing sophistication and functionality in its design. With the new design, the R9s’ body is 98.9% metal, with a screen-to-body ratio of 72.9%.

The R9s also replaces the thick white antenna bands that traverse the backs of most phones with two sets of three ultra-fine lines, each measuring 0.3mm, while still ensuring a strong signal.

The fresh look is paired with strong performance. The R9s can operate on six frequency ranges, dynamically choosing the best one for 4G and Wi-Fi signals.

The OPPO R9s sports a Qualcomm octa-core processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, and cruises seamlessly on ColorOS 3.0 (based on Android 6.0). The 64 GB of onboard storage can be expanded by an additional 256 GB. Meanwhile, the R9s’ fingerprint reader gives users 0.2s touch access, and intelligently refines its image of the user’s fingerprint over time.

The R9s is also backed with a 3,010 mAh battery and OPPO's VOOC Flash Charge technology for quick recharges that are low-voltage, sparing the phone’s internals with excess heat.
