Awesome everything, for everyone

A list of Galaxy A72 features.
An overview of Galaxy A72 features.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy A52, A52 5G and A72, featuring all good things starting with 'A': an awesome camera, an awesome display and awesome battery life as well, because "awesome is for everyone". The Galaxy A series also provides access to the wider Galaxy ecosystem of connected devices, such as Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy SmartTag, and Galaxy Tab1.

“Samsung strives to give consumers what they want and need most. That’s why we set out with a vision for the Galaxy A series to democratise Galaxy innovations for everyone,” said Dr TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

“The Galaxy A52, A52 5G and A72 encapsulate the Galaxy brand philosophy with cutting-edge innovations, services and features at an accessible price.”

The camera innovations include:

- Vivid and crisp photos and videos from a quad camera with 64 MP resolution. Moments from 4K videos can be turned into 8 MP images with 4K Video Snap. Scene Optimizer uses artificial intelligence (AI) to shoot with optimal settings for 30 categories of images and backgrounds such as food, landscapes, and pets. The A72 also boasts a 3x optical zoom, the first for the A series, as well as a 30x digital zoom.

- OIS (optical image stabilisation) ensures pictures and videos come out sharp and steady. A gyro sensor inside the phones recognises motion while the camera is operating, then communicates with a microprocessor to ensure that the camera lens moves to compensate for that motion. Night mode uses multi-frame processing to produce bright and crisp images even in under low-light conditions, which Samsung described as taking "bright shots even in the dark" at the virtual launch event.

- Fun content using AR Emoji and My Filter. In an exclusive partnership with Snapchat, users of the three new phones can apply AR Lenses from Snapchat with Fun Mode2 when snapping content from the native camera app.

The new A series models offer a display that is:

- Brighter and smoother on Samsung’s Super AMOLED display, now with 120 Hz refresh rates on the Galaxy A52 5G, and 90 Hz on the Galaxy A52 and A72, for a smoother scrolling experience is even smoother.

- Readable in bright conditions remains ideal thanks to an increased 800 nits luminance - the highest ever for the Galaxy series.

- Comfortable to view as the display is ‘Eye Care’ certified3 and automatically adjusts the display’s colour temperature based on smartphone usage patterns to reduce eye fatigue with Eye Comfort Shield4.

The new Galaxy A series experience is targeted at users who do a lot of social sharing and enhanced via the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem:

SmartThings connects to and controls devices in a smart home environment right from the Galaxy A series, including wearables, tablets, PCs and TVs. SmartThings Find locates paired devices with more intuitive and detailed directions, and the Galaxy SmartTag5 Bluetooth locator device can be attached to non-connected devices and belongings to pinpoint where they are.

- Music Share syncs a phone with a friend’s device to share music without speaker pairing. Phones can also be paired with two sets of Galaxy Buds devices with Buds Together.

- Quick Share sends pictures and videos without size limitations to nearby Galaxy devices. With Private Share6, the user controls sharing permissions, and can revoke what was shared with just one tap.

Other new Galaxy highlights include a two-day battery battery life10 with the A52’s 4,500 mAh and A72’s 5,000 mAh battery capacity11. The phones will even go into power saving mode when they detect the user is sleeping.

The in-built Game Booster software offers a fast and powerful gaming experience with improved network connectivity and lower latency by automatically adjusting settings such as battery life, temperature and memory usage.

The new Galaxy A series also comes with the Galaxy essentials:

- The Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72 are water and dust resistant7 with an IP67 rating. By adding Samsung Care+ 8, users can get instant support and guaranteed coverage for damages, breakdowns, theft, and loss.

- The built-in Samsung Knox9 — Samsung’s defense-grade security system — safeguards personal information and data in real-time.

- The Galaxy A52 5G further makes 5G connectivity12 accessible.

The Galaxy A52, A52 5G and A72 are equipped with the Galaxy essentials including stereo speakers and support for external memory up to 1 TB13. Enhance the stereo speakers experience with Dolby Atmos for a rich soundscape. Also, the redesigned One UI 3.14 helps enable more intuitive experiences and consistent interactions by increasing speed, reducing distractions and highlighting important information.

Samsung always aims to provide Galaxy users with an up–to–date mobile operating system (OS), and this is now expanded to the A series. The Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72 will support software upgrades for three generations, and regular security updates for a minimum of four years16.
