Van Gogh SENSES – the world’s first art-themed concept store dedicated to Vincent van Gogh, opened Van Gogh SENSES Gifts at the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts on 29 May, 2018.

Visitors can create gift combos inspired by some of Van Gogh’s most famous paintings from the shelves, including products such as confectionery, teas and coffees,  flowers and museum collection items.

Unique to the store, all of the packaging used for the gifts is inspired by the master’s work, such as the Wheatfield with a Reaper confectionery box. A tea combo features Small Bottle with Peonies and Blue Delphiniums on the packaging, and contains five teabags and a tea helper - crockery where teabags and spoons are placed after use. Van Gogh’s inspiration can also be seen in new beverages, including sunflower bouquet cold brew tea.

The newest boutique is filled with natural light flooding in through the historic wooden French doors. The decor turns Van Gogh‘s art into a river of floating butterflies flying through the store – a tribute to Poppies and Butterflies. The Sunflowers Wall is likewise inspired by his iconic masterpiece.

To celebrate the opening, Van Gogh SENSES is launching a month-long campaign, Best Sunflowers at Tai Kwun, on Facebook. Visitors are invited to take their photo in front of the Sunflowers Wall and share it on Facebook. The winner of the best weekly image will be rewarded a HK$200 Van Gogh SENSES gift voucher. The first 50 participants on 16 and 17 June will also receive a complimentary box of mini-palmiers. Terms and conditions apply.

From now until 30 June, patrons at the 1881 Heritage flagship store will receive a HK$50 voucher, which can be used at Van Gogh SENSES Gifts at Tai Kwun upon spending of HK$120 on retail products. Customers at Tai Kwun will also receive a HK$50 voucher for any purchase, and that can be used at 1881 Heritage flagship store upon spending of HK$120 on retail products or HK$500 on food and beverage consumption.

Inspired by arts, culture and heritage, the newly revitalised Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts is on the site of the former Central Police Station (CPS). Re-named “Tai Kwun” - the local colloquial name used by police officers and the public alike to refer to the former police headquarters and the surrounding CPS compound, the name has now been adopted as a reminder of the historical importance of the compound.

Van Gogh SENSES has also recently opened a new venture in Guangzhou K11 Art Mall – Van Gogh SENSES Bistro. Van Gogh SENSES Bistro is also home to the flower shop, Van Gogh SENSES Fleur.
