Discounted gym classes in Melbourne with this new website

Source:
FILLMYCLASS.
Just as there are discounts for last-minute flight and hotel bookings, cheaper gym classes can also be had at the last minute.

A new website called FILLMYCLASS has been launched in Melbourne, Australia to match fitness enthusiasts with available class spaces in nearby gyms and studios.

"It's all about flexibility," says FILLMYCLASS founder Daniel Waide. "The goal is to get more people moving, and being able to pick and choose classes that suit you at any gym or studio means you're more likely to get active and stay active.

"FILLMYCLASS gives people the chance to attend classes without the intimidation of a lengthy membership, or the inconvenience of limited locations. You might want to attend yoga at a lunchtime studio near work, do a Pilates class on your way home, and meet a friend for a cycle class near a cafe on the weekend.

"This site means you're not limited by the geography or timetable of a single gym and for fitness locations it's a great opportunity to get people in the door, to try new fitness options and get comfortable with classes and instructors."

Fitness locations see how FILLMYCLASS can help them. "We're running these classes already and the atmosphere is always more fun when we have full classes and new people," says Clare Gioules, Head of Projects and Innovation for Goodlife Health Clubs.

FILLMYCLASS.com.au is up and running now, and offering limited free classes until the end of March 2015. Book a class here; no membership is required.

GfK finds Singapore travellers often plan less than a month ahead

A Jetstar plane at Changi Airport, Singapore.
Businesses could save money on some travel costs by taking a leaf out of consumer travel books. A GfK study has revealed that around 76% of trips from Singapore have been made by travellers no more than a month ahead of the actual travel date.

“The high incidence of trips being booked within a few weeks of travel is likely due to the availability of discounted airfare for last-minute flights by airlines, which are increasingly common nowadays,” observed Laurens van den Oever, Global Travel Director at GfK. “Such promotions are often quickly snapped up by holiday-seekers, especially those who are familiar with the destinations for free and easy leisure travel for weekends or during public holidays.”

GfK also found that four in five (80%) do their travel research online while the next popular method is by talking to personal contacts such as friends, relatives and colleagues (40%). Other less common mentions are travel agency (20%), travel fair (20%) and articles in newspapers (20%). One third of respondents relied solely on Internet research, but 17% shared that they only utilise offline methods. Half of all respondents use both methods.

“Traditional brick-and-mortar travel agents remain popular for travel packages to other regions apart from Asia and Europe, as confirmed by a small group of less than a third of respondents,” said van den Oever. “Our findings showed that consumers are more inclined to receiving assistance for their bookings and planning from the agencies when traveling to unfamiliar regions as this provides some level of assurance.”

*The GfK Consumer Travel Tracker research was conducted in Singapore over April and May, and is based on tracked outbound travel data from the pre-booking to actual booking and transaction stages, conducted among 500 respondents who have made a travel booking in the last three months.

Microsoft more than doubles free OneDrive cloud storage, slashes pricing

Microsoft announced updates to the freemium OneDrive cloud storage service on June 23 (US time), to take effect in the next month.

The improvements include more free storage, cheaper paid storage, and bonus storage for customers with Office 365. "The landscape is changing to the point that we believe it’s no longer enough to provide only cloud storage — that’s table stakes. We want to provide a complete experience that brings in the power of Office and lets you do more with everything you put in your OneDrive — whether it’s sharing your favourite photos with the people you care about in one simple click or working together in real time on an important project," said Omar Shahine, ‎Group Program Manager, OneDrive.com, on the OneDrive blog.

Current subscribers will be automatically be moved to the lower prices. Following are the changes:

· Free storage to grow from 7 GB to 15 GB, as Microsoft has found that most people use less than 15 GB of storage
· Storage bundled with Office 365 subscriptions* will increase to 1 TB. In the case of Office 365 Home, which allows up to five users, it is 1 TB per user.
· Storage prices to be reduced worldwide by over 70%. For Singapore, it will cost S$3/month for 100 GB of storage, or US$1.99.
· OneDrive users who refer friends will still receive up to 5 GB (in 500 MB increments) for each friend who accepts an invitation
· OneDrive will still give you 3 GB just for activating the camera backup feature on your smartphone.

*S$9.80/month or S$98/year for Office 365 Personal
S$13.80/month or $138.00/year for Office 365 Home (up to 5 PCs or Macs)
S$108/for four years for University; OneDrive for Business customers already get 1 TB of cloud storage per person. Monthly pricing is only available if the order is made via microsoftstore.com.

DEAL.com.sg celebrates upcoming birthday by giving away S$5 million to customers

Flash sales site DEAL.com.sg is giving away several million dollars to its customers as a token of appreciation for their loyalty since the company's inception in May 2010. The initiative is also being used to help recruit new customers.

Patrick Linden, CEO of iBuy Group, which owns DEAL.com.sg said, "We have decided to give away $5 million to our customers as a token of appreciation for their patronage over the last three and a half years; without them, we wouldn't have been where we are today. To everyone who made this possible, I'd personally like to say - a big thank you!"

From 21 March, every existing DEAL.com.sg subscriber will be given a S$5 discount code. In addition, this code will also be valid for new subscribers to DEAL.com.sg until the site reaches the milestone of 1 million subscribers, or until 30 April 2014, whichever comes first. This discount code can be used to purchase any item on the site, irrespective of the sale price, by 30 April 2014.

Since the company was founded almost four years ago, DEAL.com.sg has grown to become one of the largest flash sale platforms, with the company's initial public offering in December last year on the Australian Securities Exchange.

According to Alexa's Traffic ranking, DEAL.com.sg is one of the top ten most visited Singapore-based sites, averaging over a million unique visitors every month.

Dealguru Holdings, the operator of DEAL.com.sg, announced its merger with three other regional e-commerce players to form iBuy Group earlier this year. The company went on to raise A$37 million in an initial public offering on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:IBY) on 20 December 2013, bringing DEAL.com.sg from startup to IPO in a relatively short time.
