Vitafoods Asia, a regional event for nutraceutical ingredients, finished products, and contract manufacturing services, has announced that its 2027 edition will take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 23 September 2027. The event will significantly expand its footprint, occupying 8 halls at MITEC over a gross exhibition space of 35,000 sq m.

"Kuala Lumpur represents the future of nutraceutical innovation in Southeast Asia," said Rose Chitanuwat, Regional Portfolio Director - ASEAN at Informa Markets.

"With Malaysia's market projected to reach nearly US$1 billion by 2030 and its position as a regional manufacturing hub, this move enables Vitafoods Asia to unlock unprecedented opportunities for our global community of ingredient suppliers, manufacturers, and brands. The combination of MITEC's world-class facilities, Malaysia's competitive advantages, and Kuala Lumpur's accessibility makes this the ideal location to drive the next phase of growth for our industry."

The decision move to Kuala Lumpur reflects the organiser's commitment to leveraging the growing opportunities that Malaysia has to offer. As an established meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) destination, Kuala Lumpur provides advantages for the international nutraceutical community, including ease of travel from across the region, an extensive range of hotel and entertainment options at competitive costs, and a uniquely Asian experience that combines modern infrastructure with rich cultural heritage.

Malaysia's nutraceutical and dietary supplements market also presents opportunities for international companies across the value chain. The market is projected to be worth US$1 to US$1.1 billion by 2030 with a CAGR of 5.2%, driven by rising health consciousness and a shift towards preventive healthcare among consumers.

For ingredient suppliers, Malaysia offers unique opportunities through its diverse natural flora for raw materials, strong demand for high-quality imported ingredients, and a rapidly growing halal-certified ingredients market aligned with the country's Muslim population. The market shows particular strength in functional ingredients, with rising demand for immunity boosters, age-related health products, organic formulations, and plant-based supplements.

Finished product companies will find a receptive market characterised by health-conscious consumers, rapid e-commerce expansion, and demographic trends including an ageing population creating sustained demand for specialised health products, the show organiser said.

Malaysia's contract manufacturing sector additionally offers significant competitive advantages, including well-developed infrastructure with a skilled workforce, cost advantages compared to developed nations while maintaining high manufacturing standards, and established manufacturers offering comprehensive services. These facilities are equipped to meet international regulatory standards, including USFDA, TGA, MEDSAFE, and EU guidelines, providing full-service capabilities from product development through manufacturing and packaging.

Vitafoods Asia 2027 at MITEC coincides with Food & Hospitality Malaysia, which will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 21 to 24 September 2027.

Singtel Group has launched its 2026 National Day film, Beyond Connection. The film is a tribute to the spirit of progress that has shaped Singapore over 61 years, charting the country's journey from a resource-poor island in 1965 to today’s global economic success story before looking ahead to how digital infrastructure and AI will support Singapore's next lap as a Smart Nation and regional AI hub.

Beyond Connection also tells the story of Singtel's own evolution and the role it has played in nation building.

Yuen Kuan Moon, Group CEO, Singtel, said: “The story of Singapore has always been one of looking beyond the horizon and building for the future. Every generation has played a part in building a stronger foundation for the next and this includes investing in the infrastructure and capabilities that have helped us dream bigger.

"As AI reshapes economies and societies, we are entering another defining chapter. As national telco to today's digital infrastructure and services group, we feel privileged that we can continue playing a part in driving Singapore's Smart Nation ambitions and continued success by building the digital backbone that will help Singapore seize new opportunities in the AI era."

The film blends archival footage with present-day scenes to bring Singapore’s development and progress to life, capturing how Singtel’s technology and services played a role in transforming Singapore’s airport and port, healthcare and manufacturing sectors.

Shots of Singtel's National Day Parade marching contingents, past and present, highlight the company’s longstanding role in supporting this journey. True to the spirit of AI, selected historical images were enhanced through AI-assisted production tools to improve their visual quality and introduce subtle movement while respecting their authenticity and original context.

Accelerating industry transformation

Beyond Connection illustrates how Singtel’s investments in digital infrastructure are unleashing fresh innovation in Singapore’s world-class healthcare sector while breathing new life into old industries.

Contributing to community

The film also highlights Singtel's longstanding commitment to empowering every generation. Through the Singtel Touching Lives Fund, Singtel has supported children and youth with special needs for more than three decades. It has also lent support for the visual and performing arts through the Singtel Waterfront Theatre at the Esplanade and the Singtel Special Exhibition Gallery at National Gallery Singapore. It continues championing Singapore’s national athletes through a 15-year partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council.

Lian Pek, VP, Group Corporate Affairs & Investor Relations, Singtel said: “Dare I say this is not our typical National Day celebration. With the world on the cusp of an AI-driven revolution, it is even more critical that a company with our DNA helps Singapore make its way in the brave new world while leaving no one behind. We know Singaporeans’ determination and resilience will always prevail and we celebrate that in the film while also reaffirming our support for the nation through innovation, partnerships and community.”

Singapore launches new workplace safety and health resources

● Singapore enters next phase of efforts to support safer and longer working lives

● New initiatives aim to strengthen workplace safety and health (WSH) outcomes

● AI-enabled SAGE platform will help WSH professionals access official guidance faster and strengthen risk management decisions

New national workplace safety and health initiatives have been unveiled at the Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Conference 2026.

Source: WSH Council. From left: Tan Hee Teck, President, SNEF; Abu Bakar Bin Mohd Nor, Chairman, WSH Council; Singapore Minister of State for Manpower, Dinesh Vasu Dash; and Ngien Hoon Ping, Group CEO, SMRT Corporation.

Held at Marina Bay Sands, the 9th edition of the biennial conference focused on how Singapore’s WSH ecosystem can better anticipate emerging risks, strengthen shared ownership and translate safety insights into practical action across workplaces. Over 1,500 policymakers, business leaders, WSH professionals and industry practitioners attended activities under the theme Insight to Impact: Collective Effort for Stronger WSH Outcomes.

Singapore Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash launched the Safety Advisory and Guidance Engine (SAGE), an AI-enabled knowledge and decision-support tool developed by the Workplace Safety and Health Council in partnership with the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers.

Designed for WSH professionals, SAGE helps users retrieve relevant information, identify workplace hazards and apply best-practice control measures based on Singapore’s WSH framework. SAGE provides guided task categories that help users navigate common WSH activities. This lowers the barrier to using AI for WSH tasks, making the platform easier to use regardless of the user's familiarity with AI.

By making authoritative guidance easier to access, the tool aims to support faster, more consistent decision-making in safety-critical environments while complementing the experience and professional judgement of WSH practitioners.

The move comes as Singapore enters the next phase of its WSH journey. According to the Workplace Safety and Health Report 2025 released by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in March 2026, two all-time lows were achieved in the country.

The workplace fatal injury rate fell to a record low of 0.96 per 100,000 workers in 2025, while major injury rates across most workplace settings declined to 15.7 per 100,000 workers.* However, reported workplace injuries rose by 2.5%, underscoring the need for continued vigilance even as Singapore remains among the safest working environments globally.

Mr Dinesh also unveiled the Alliance for Action on Safety and Health for Employment Longevity (AfA-SHEL), which supports safer, healthier and longer working lives. The initiative will look at how workers can be better supported to remain in, or return safely to, employment after injury or illness.

He said: “Singapore’s workplace safety and health progress is not a static achievement, but a continuous national effort. As we advance the WSH 2028 agenda, our focus must be on sustaining the progress we have made, strengthening support for workers, employers and WSH practitioners, and ensuring that our
WSH system remains responsive to the needs of a changing economy. By working together, we
can continue to raise WSH standards and build safer, healthier and more resilient workplaces.”

The AfA-SHEL was introduced by the minister during the MOM's Committee of Supply Debate in March 2026. Jointly led by MOM, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), the AfA brings together employers, workers, relevant government agencies, healthcare institutions, solution providers and other stakeholders to co-create practical, industry-led solutions to strengthen WSH and support employment longevity.

The AfA will focus on developing practical solutions in three areas:

• Injury prevention for the general workforce, beyond high-risk workplaces

• Supporting returning to work after a serious injury or health episode

• Workplace adaption and job redesign to make work tasks, processes and environments safer and more suitable for Singapore's workforce, which comprises people with varied physical and health needs

The WSH Council further introduced a new WhatsApp channel to provide employers, workers and WSH practitioners with mobile-first access to events, alerts, advisories and resources. This complements the Council’s existing WSH Bulletin, social media channels and website.

Abu Bakar Bin Mohd Nor, Chairman of the WSH Council, said the next phase of WSH progress will require stronger shared ownership across the ecosystem. “As workplace risks become more complex, the next phase of WSH progress cannot rest on any one party alone. Workforce ageing, more unpredictable weather patterns, and new technologies are changing the risks that employers, workers, and WSH professionals have to manage," he said.

"That means we must keep adapting our systems, tools and mindsets, while ensuring every part of the ecosystem plays its role in anticipating risks earlier, designing for safety from the outset, and embedding WSH practices on the ground. This shared ownership will be critical as we continue strengthening Singapore’s WSH culture.”

The Top Executive WSH Programme (TEWP) has also been enhanced. From 1 September 2026, the TEWP will place greater emphasis on executive accountability, governance and due diligence. The enhanced programme was redesigned by the Institute of Adult Learning and Singapore University of Social Sciences in consultation with MOM, the WSH Council, training providers and the Singapore Institute of Directors.

New enhancements include:

● Special emphasis on governance and executive leadership
● Targeted learning designed for C-suite leaders and board directors
● More examples of scenario-based and application-focused learning
● Greater focus on the CORE Framework and the 17 Approved Code of Practice measures
● Enhanced emphasis on evidence of leadership commitment and due diligence

The conference concluded with a call for organisations to strengthen shared responsibility, practical innovation and adopt a people-centred approach to workplace safety and health.

Begin the journey with borscht reimagined, featuring beetroot, hand-cultivated mushrooms grown on-site, and gochujang (Korean red chilli paste). Yellowtail with orange and tarragon features in-season fish brightened with citrus and ginger flowers from the edible garden. The red grouper, from the tropical waters of Malaysia, is served with a tableside pour of a broth inspired by phở. Meanwhile, the spiny lobster, sourced from the Indo-West Pacific, is paired with vermouth sauce and fresh dill.

Paying homage to traditional Christmas flavours is the yellow chicken, roasted with thyme and rosemary from the garden and served with braised red cabbage and Brussels sprouts. The wagyu beef striploin, made with Tajima wagyu, is renowned for its ethical farming practices and lower carbon footprint. It is enriched with truffle and Madeira sauce, then garnished with in-house-grown mushrooms.

Refreshing the palate towards the end of the meal is the Amalfi lemon, cucumber & mint, which incorporates calamansi and lemongrass from the edible garden. The Conference pear—spiced with ginger and garden tarragon, and paired with tangy blackberry sorbet and sweet glazed chestnuts over vanilla yoghurt meringue—brings a comforting warmth. A selection of mignardises (bite-sized sweets) from Chef Marcus serves as a finale.

Audio Exotics brings the art and precision of sonic truth to Hi-End Asia

Source: AE. The Engström Tube Suite with APL and Cessaro Horns.
Source: AE. The Engström Tube Suite will be on display at Hi-End Asia this year.

Audio Exotics (AE), a curator of ultra-high-end audio experiences, will be participating for the first time at the Hi-End Asia International Audio Visual Show, unveiling two system philosophies that embody its pursuit of musical purity, emotional truth, and the art of silence - according to AE, “Silence is not the absence of sound — it is the canvas upon which music breathes”.

The Engström Tube Suite with APL technology and Cessaro Horns features Lars 3 power amplifiers, a Monica preamplifier, and a M-Phono stage, paired with the APL Tube DAC and Streamer and voiced through Cessaro Horn loudspeakers. Together, the Engström–APL–Cessaro ensemble defines the art of purity: the natural liquidity of tubes, the serenity of design, and the living poetry of music in motion.

Engström embodies the rare Scandinavian synthesis of technical mastery and poetic minimalism. Each amplifier is designed to be both an instrument of power and a sculpture of sound and form. Hand-built in Sweden, the Lars 3 and Monica exude tonal refinement that balances warmth and transparency, delivering a sound described by reviewers as “liquid, dimensional, and emotionally luminous”. Their aesthetics — glass, copper, and wood in architectural harmony — evoke serenity and purity.

The APL Tube DAC and Streamer, crafted by Alex Peychev Laboratories (APL) in Bulgaria, continues this tradition of emotional digital playback. Its fully discrete tube output stage, handmatched components, and proprietary digital topology transform bits into breath. Anchoring the system are Cessaro Horn loudspeakers, hand-built in Germany, whose dynamics and tonal realism make music feel physically alive, AE said.

The Göbel High End & JMF Solid-State Suite and the Stellavox IDEM mono amplifier expresses the opposite pole of Audio Exotics’ philosophy — the precision of silence and the architecture of control.

Göbel High End loudspeakers from Germany translate material science into emotion. Their proprietary bending-wave driver technology and resonance-optimised construction unveil textures and micro-details that transcend traditional loudspeaker boundaries.

Driving them are JMF Audio electronics from France — precision-crafted amplifiers and converters born from professional mastering heritage. Assembled by hand in the Jura mountains, each JMF component is designed for neutrality, power, and silence. Their amplifiers reveal the full dynamic energy of a recording while preserving the intimacy of a human voice or the decay of a string.

The Pink Faun Ultra 2.16 music transport from the Netherlands anchors the digital stage with ultra-low-noise linear power supplies, OCXO clocking, and modular I²S architecture for true-time playback. Feeding into the Synästec DAC from Germany — a design that marries FPGA architecture with analogue finesse — the result is extraordinary transparency and tonal depth.

Touraj Moghaddam, founder of Vertere Acoustics and one of the visionaries of modern turntable design, will personally present his turntables in both systems. His presence bridges the tactile beauty of analogue with AE’s philosophy of curated listening — a testament that music, when faithfully rendered, unites all forms of technology and craft.

Details

Hi-End Asia will be held from 23 October to 25 October 2025 at level 3, Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre. Get tickets from www.hiendasia.com

Audio Exotics has sponsored a premium lucky draw prize for the event, an Ediscreation Fiber Box Mk. II, valued at S$2,500. This advanced fibre isolation system is designed to deliver cleaner, purer signal transmission for the ultimate audiophile experience.

All ticket holders are automatically entered into the lucky draw.

*DAC stands for digital-to-analogue converter; and FPGA for field-programmable gate array.

Marina Bay Sands welcomes October with seasonal delights and motorsport energy

Source: MBS. Jin Ting Wan’s double-boiled bird’s nest with morel mushroom and honey (蜂蜜羊肚菌炖官燕).
Source: MBS. Experience Jin Ting Wan’s first seasonal tasting menu, featuring a variety of fresh mushrooms foraged from Yunnan. The mushrooms star in dishes such as double-boiled bird’s nest with morel mushroom and honey (蜂蜜羊肚菌炖官燕).

October marks a vibrant celebration of seasonal ingredients and high-octane excitement at Marina Bay Sands (MBS). As Singapore prepares for the Formula 1 festivities, the integrated resort comes alive with dynamic dining experiences that blend culinary indulgence with the spirit of race week:

Jin Ting Wan

Jin Ting Wan debuts its first seasonal tasting menu this September, celebrating the bounty of early autumn with fresh mushrooms foraged from the highlands of Yunnan. Guests will be among the first in Singapore to savour freshly flown-in matsutake (pine mushrooms, 松茸), cherished for its intense aroma; the rare golden fungus, revered for its gelatinous texture; ganba fungus, known for its earthy fragrance; as well as classics such as porcini mushrooms.

Try the marinated porcini mushroom and scallop with scallion sauce (葱香牛肝菌澳州元贝, S$98++), a luxurious contrast of flavours and textures. For mains, the fried rice with ganba fungus and honey pea (干巴菌甜豆炒饭, S$168++) showcases ganba fungus, which grows symbiotically on ageing pine trees and lends a distinctive woody aroma to the dish.

To finish, the double-boiled bird’s nest with morel mushroom and honey (蜂蜜羊肚菌炖官燕, S$98++) is light yet nourishing. Premium bird’s nest is gently simmered with earthy morels and floral honey.

Waku Ghin

At October’s Chef’s Table, early-season matsutake take centrestage. Sourced at their peak from select prefectures, these rare mushrooms are prized for their pine-like fragrance, firm texture, and profound umami. At Waku Ghin, the revered produce is gently grilled to draw out their earthy aroma and paired with kabosu (かぼす), a lime-like fruit, offering a bright citrus counterpoint that evokes the essence of autumn.

Other seasonal expressions include a showcase of Kagoshima’s prized kanpachi (greater amberjack, 間八), known for its rich, fatty, and sweet flavour. Delicately prepared to highlight its clean, buttery texture, the fish is paired with the smoky sweetness of roasted capsicum.

Over by the Bar, indulge in a Waku Ghin-style capellini; a delicate, chilled preparation featuring tender sodeika (Japanese rhomboid squid, 袖烏賊) and crisp cucumber, gently spiced with green chili and finished with a preserved ayu (sweetfish, 鮎 orアユ) sauce for a refreshing lift. For a true bar classic, savour the beer-battered Aquina Murray cod, boasting golden crunch and flaky richness, paired with velvety Tasmanian dutch cream potato, tangy pickled eggplant, and a bold mustard sauce that ties it all together.

Seating is limited and guests are encouraged to reserve early. For reservations, visit marinabaysands.com/restaurants/waku-ghin.html

Miracle Coffee

Miracle Coffee has introduced three new beverages for the season, each designed to deliver a harmonious blend of freshness and richness. The grapefruit cloud refresher (S$8 nett) is light and sparkling, blending a citrus tang with airy foam. The indulgent brown sugar oat latte (S$10 nett) layers nutty oat milk with a caramel candy-like sweetness. The grapefruit cloud coffee (S$11 nett) bridges both worlds, marrying espresso’s depth with juicy grapefruit.

RISE

From 15 to 30 October, RISE presents the Xinjiang Tianshan salmon trout feast, a limited-time showcase of salmon through global creations. Think sashimi, Russian coulibiac (кулебяка) and more.

Highlights include confit of Tianshan trout with sesame dressing, salmon trout tataki infused with oriental spices, plus sashimi and aburi. Smoked salmon trout and homemade gravlax add depth, while the centrepiece, Tianshan salmon trout coulibiac, is encased in golden pastry and finished with lime beurre blanc.

Asian inspirations add variety, from mala salmon trout and handmade xiaolongbao, to braised Nyonya assam salmon trout with pineapple and tamarind, a Goan salmon trout curry rich with spices, and a vibrant Thai-style preparation with chilli.

As Halloween approaches, RISE embraces the festive spirit with a whimsical array of themed desserts and breads. From 31 October to 2 November, guests can indulge in a playful selection of treats, including the haunted Black Forest layered with dark cherry compote and chocolate sponge, pumpkin spice cheesecake infused with cinnamon and nutmeg, graveyard chocolate fondant with a molten centre, and the spooky lemon meringue tart topped with skull-shaped meringue.

Adding to the fun are boo-berry choux filled with bright berry cream and macarons shaped like ghosts and bats. The Halloween celebration extends to the bread basket, featuring seasonal bakes such as pumpkin and cheddar mini boules topped with pepitas, squid ink “witch ring” bagels, and Jack-o’-lantern brioche glazed with spiced syrup. For younger guests, mini “finger” breadsticks with tomato glaze and cinnamon “bone” twists offer a spooky finish.

Both buffets are available for lunch and dinner, with lunch priced from S$72++ to S$102++, and dinner priced from S$98++ to S$112++.

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar

Throughout October, Yardbird serves up a new take on chicken each week. The dishes, priced at S$38++ àla carte or S$44++ with a drink pairing, are a month-long homage to Southern comfort.

Spice coconut fried chicken is the highlight from 1 to 7 October. Each bite evokes tropical warmth, especially when paired with Mango Vice, a cocktail where ripe mango and smoky pecan meet a refreshing ginger ale lift.

This is followed by the lemon pepper fried chicken from 8 to 14 October, which brings bright citrus heat, and is paired with the floral, lemongrass-kissed Southside fizz cocktail.

Mid-month, the flavours deepen with Louisiana fried chicken from 15 to 21 October, brined for 27 hours and coated in cayenne pepper sauce with a crumble of blue cheese. The Texas tumbleweed cocktail, a smoky tequila-mezcal mix, holds its own against the boldness.

The finale, hot honey fried chicken, available from 22 to 31 October, is accented with the bite of pickled gherkins and scallions. A tart-sweet black berry bourbon lemonade cuts through the richness.

WAKUDA Singapore

Race weekend at WAKUDA shifts into high gear with a special collaboration. From 3 to 5 October, Dubai’s Mimi Kakushi, ranked No. 40 on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, takes over the bar with equal parts 1920s Osaka glamour and contemporary Shinjuku flair. Event-exclusive cocktails will be served at S$25++ each from 10 pm onwards.

Highlights include the kiyo mizu, layered and complex for the sophisticated palate, and tsumabiki, a citrusy garden-fresh aperitif. Sayonara reimagines the negroni with a refined fruit-kissed Japanese accent, while alcohol-free options such as genso is earthy, fruity and bittersweet, and denki-kan, a garden spritz with delicate spice, ensure the experience is as inclusive as it is memorable.

Guests are warmly invited to join the festivities early with a showcase of precision mixology inspired by the world of speed and endurance. Till 12 October, the bar presents a season-exclusive cocktail menu (S$25++ per cocktail).

Among the creations is the Marina Circuit martini, featuring vodka infused with shine muscat for sweetness layered over citrus. Don’t hold your blanco offers a bold, spicy turn for tequila lovers, while pit stop scarlet balances herbal notes with tart fruit for a sophisticated gin-based serve.

Hammer time raises the bar with wagyu tallow washing and applewood smoke, transforming the old-fashioned into a velvety indulgence. Completing the line-up is corsa sour, a spirited interpretation of the Japanese whiskey sour with Suntory Old and refreshing citrus complexity.

These cocktails pair beautifully with dishes such as the premium sashimi platter, available in nine pieces (S$78++) or 14 pieces (S$135++), or signatures including the charcoal-grilled Ohmi wagyu (S$168++), prepared with French culinary finesse.

MARQUEE Singapore

October at MARQUEE Singapore bookends the summer with a stellar lineup. The month opens with French producer Space 92 on 17 October, with his DJ set blurring the line between raw warehouse energy and big-room drama, layering gritty basslines under soaring melodies.

On 18 October, Dash Berlin returns with chart-topping anthems like Till the Sky Falls Down and Man on the Run. The trance and progressive house duo, whose music has helped define the golden age of trance, will bring bouncy bass-heavy tracks with vocal melodies that have carried festival crowds into collective singalongs.

On 19 October, themed party organisers Culture SG collaborate with MARQUEE for a club takeover with Clarity, paying tribute to the electronic dance music (EDM) classics that shaped the 2010s with songs that have come to capture the spirit and energy of road trips, festival sunsets, and late-night afterparties.

On 24 October, the night descends into darker territory with I Hate Models, one of the most uncompromising figures in hard techno. His sets move like a storm, blending nostalgic undertones with punk energy, and raw industrial textures — a hallmark of pristine, punchy techno.

The month then builds towards Halloweekend, a two-night Halloween-themed takeover. On 31 October, the club is consumed by GLI7CH: System Infected, a night where visuals distort and identities warp, giving guests a full immersion into a fractured digital nightmare. Partygoers can expect tracks laced with relentless beats and dystopian atmospheres, paired with cyberpunk aesthetics.

The chaos continues on 1 November with AXMO, the German sonic specialists who have exploded onto the mainstage circuit with a bold, maximalist musical palette. Their music blends the nostalgia of 2000s dance energy with technical wizardry and infectious energy. They thrive on adrenaline, delivering a heady ride through cathartic music.

For an additional S$98 nett or S$198 nett, partygoers can also purchase MARQUEE Infinite Pour tickets to receive a free-flow selection of house pours or a selection of premium alcoholic beverages, from 10 pm to 5 am.
