The company says contact cards, powered by Xobni technology, provide vital information at a glance, including the person's photo (or logo if it is a company), phone number, job title, and links to social profiles including Facebook* and Flickr.
The data comes from sources which are already available to the Yahoo user, such as the user's own address book as well as Facebook and Flickr profiles (depending on what is publicly available according to the contact’s privacy settings). In addition, the cards include up-to-date phone numbers that a contact may have emailed to you in the past.
Various actions can be performed directly from the cards including searching for emails from that person, composing a new email, and adding the person to the address book.
