Nongsa Point Marina & Resort by Nongsa Resorts is hosting the 2nd Wonderful Indonesia Nongsa Regatta from 20 January to 22 January 2017.

This event will be held at the peak of the monsoon season (north wind) which features strong winds for sailing boat races. It is estimated that more than 300 participants will follow the race, including participants from Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. Nongsa Point Marina & Resort will host dinghies and traditional boat races by the local communities as a side event.

"We aim for more participants and enthusiasm for the 2nd Wonderful Indonesia Nongsa Regatta 2017. With the support from the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia, we foresee this international event will heighten tourism to Batam, particularly to the Nongsa region," said Erhard Rueber, GM, Nongsa Point Marina & Resort.

The three-day regatta will see over 60 varied sailboats and an estimated 600 international and domestic professionals, participants, spectators, thought leaders and boating sports community at Nongsa Point Marina & Resort.

As part of the resort’s corporate social responsibility, there will be a dedicated new race in a popular one design small Olympic one-man sailing dinghy – Optimist and Laser – for juniors at the Riau Yacht Club’s Sailing School.

The resort will once again showcase an Indonesian traditional boat race for local boating enthusiasts. The traditional boat race allows corporate sponsors and VIPs to experience first-hand navigating in a traditional boat in monsoon conditions.
