Japanese meal subscription service arrives in Singapore

- Tsuklio offers Japanese home‐style meals for S$17 per serving

- Over 100 rotating recipes designed for busy households and working professionals

Antway, a Tokyo-based food-tech company, has launched its 'home-cooked' meal subscription service Tsuklio in Singapore, marking its first international expansion into Southeast Asia.

Known in Japan for its convenience and quality, Tsuklio delivers fresh, never-frozen Japanese home-style meals on a weekly subscription designed for busy households and working professionals.

Each meal is crafted daily in a central kitchen under the supervision by registered dietitians to ensure optimal nutrition, flavour, and freshness. Menus draw from more than 100 rotating recipes. The dishes prepared in a variety of flavour styles, from classic Japanese and Chinese-inspired dishes to Western-influenced recipes.

In Singapore, Tsuklio will debut with a three-meal-per-week household plan (portions for three to four people) at S$211 per week, maintaining the same strict quality-control standards that have defined the brand in Japan. Users may enjoy the convenience of weekly deliveries, flexible skip or change options, and easy cancellations to suit personal schedules.

Kei Maejima, Founder & CEO of Antway said, “In Singapore, we noticed that many families and busy professionals are constantly juggling work, home and personal commitments and mealtimes often become one more thing to manage. Tsuklio was created to bring back the joy of sitting down to a comforting, delicious yet nutritious home-cooked meal without the stress of planning, grocery shopping or spending hours in the kitchen.”

Food safety and quality assurance remain central to Tsuklio’s brand promise. In line with Singapore’s regulatory requirements, the company will implement strict checks on ingredient sourcing, supplier selection and kitchen processes.

Singapore was chosen as Tsuklio’s first overseas market after a four-week test-marketing programme conducted in 2025, which involved 70 participants and delivered strong validation. The results showed clear demand among urban, dual-income households who are familiar with meal-subscription services and enjoy diverse Asian flavours.

Tsuklio has served more than 30 million meals across 46 prefectures in Japan, and saw the number of meals provided increase by 64% year-on-year as of April 2025.

Singtel has launched Singapore’s first mobile leasing plans, designed to make premium handsets more affordable to customers*.

Customers on SIM Only plans have the option of paying a small monthly fee for the use of premium handsets from Apple and Samsung instead of purchasing them up front. They can lease the latest Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy phone models for 24 months, with the option to upgrade their handset in the 12th month by paying a S$200 fee.

With prices starting as low as S$35 per month for a Samsung Galaxy S9 (64 GB) for example, customers can save up to S$578 off the regular retail price if they choose to lease the handset for a

“With so much time spent on their smartphones, our customers naturally want the latest and best technology that new handsets have to offer. They can now enjoy an enhanced mobile experience when they stream their favourite shows or play online games,” said Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO for Consumer Singapore at Singtel.

“Our mobile leasing plans allow customers to take advantage of the flexibility of our SIM Only plans and give them the option to lease a smartphone at an affordable monthly rate.”

Going mobile-first can be the path to success

Source: Spotify. Kaur.

Spotify launched in Asia with mobile support as a priority, not as an afterthought or nice-to-have, says CommunicAsia2015 speaker Sunita Kaur, Managing Director, Asia, Spotify, as it saw that Asia is a growing mobile-only market.

The mobile-first freemium strategy has fuelled growth in Spotify’s user base, which subsequently bumped up premium subscriber numbers at an average conversion rate of about 20%, Kaur said.

“We’re so committed to the freemium model on mobile because we completely agree with the labels that subscribers are key to bringing the industry back to health — and we need the free 'funnel' to drive subscription,” said Kaur. "By bringing listeners into our free, ad-supported tier, we migrate them away from piracy, which is rife in this part of the world.”

Ads are a big part of the strategy. In the second quarter of this year, Spotify is announcing the rollout of a new video ad product. Sponsored Sessions give brands ownership of 30 minute ad-free mobile sessions. Users opt-in to an ad-free experience by viewing a 15 or 30 second video on their mobile device.

For Spotify, another advantage of going mobile is the ability to provide personalised recommendations to fans across their daily activities. The result of tailoring the streaming experience is that users are spending an average of over 160 minutes listening, dancing or singing along to Spotify every day, she disclosed.

"There is no cookie-cutter approach, so consider if your mobile strategy will add value to your consumers’ lifestyles. Learn to build for the user, go beyond mobile-first, and go user-first,” concluded Kaur.

Kaur will be sharing insights on how businesses can implement a mobile marketing strategy at CommunicAsia2015 this June.
