Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series helps users get healthier

A recent study has estimated that Singapore could save up to S$650 M in direct healthcare costs if Singaporeans made long-term changes to their lifestyles.

Sleep is one area where Singaporeans could do better. According to a 2024 YouGov study, 66% of Singaporeans continue to struggle with getting seven or more hours of sleep.

This is where a smartwatch can help. The  recently-launched Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic are boast the thinnest and most comfortable Galaxy watches ever6  for continuous health tracking. Features on the Samsung Health app8 which can help consumers build healthier habits include:

- Vascular Load1: the amount of stress on your vascular system while sleeping.

- Bedtime Guidance2, a feature that measures users’ circadian rhythm to suggest the optimal time to go to bed.

“Sleep remains a cornerstone of our approach to health, as it influences physical and mental well-being, social relationships and even work performance,” said Dr Hon Pak, Senior VP and Head of Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperience, Samsung Electronics, in a statement shared in July.

“Now, we envision our Galaxy Watch delivering holistic insights centred around sleep — insights that lead to meaningful changes in daily life. We believe this aligns with our vision of empowering you to lead healthier lives through proactive care and holistic health management.”

If high levels of stress persist, High Stress Alert will immediately signal users for a break. There is also the Mindfulness Tracker, through which users can record their mood and receive guidance on breathing exercises to relieve stress.

The Galaxy Watch is also the first in the industry to introduce Antioxidant Index3, a feature to measure carotenoids via its BioActive sensor. Antioxidants help to protect against cell damage and slow ageing.

The BioActive Sensor can provide a number of real-time insights:

- The Sleep Apnea4 feature, approved for use by the Singapore Health Sciences Authority (HSA), enables users to detect moderate to severe signs of sleep apnea, when proper breathing is affected while sleeping. The condition affects approximately one in three Singaporeans.

- The Galaxy Watch8’s enhanced Electrocardiogram (ECG)5 can better capture ectopic beats, extra or skipped heartbeats that occur outside of the normal heart rhythm. While mostly harmless, identification of frequent ectopic beats could add to insights for preventive care.

The Galaxy Watch8 Series further delivers personalised fitness insights. Running Coach9 calculates users’ fitness level from 1 to 10 and develops a tailored training plan complete with real-time guidance and motivational insights. With the Together feature which now supports running, users can gamify their fitness journey by challenging friends and family.

Plus, the AI-powered Energy Score10 gives consumers a snapshot of their energy level, combining physical and mental energy metrics to guide users to plan for a healthier day ahead.

The distinctive cushion design, which debuted with Galaxy Watch Ultra, now defines the entire Galaxy Watch lineup. To achieve the thinnest design yet, the internal structure of the Galaxy Watch8 Series was completely reengineered, resulting in an 11% thinner design7. Combined with the Dynamic Lug system, the new Galaxy Watch8 Series fits snugly on the wrist, providing greater comfort and improved stability6 for a better fit and enhanced health-tracking accuracy.

A 3 nm processor delivers faster performance and greater power efficiency. The display is 50% brighter6 with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits for easy visibility, even under bright sunlight, while the dual-frequency GPS provides more detailed and precise location results6

Developed in close collaboration with Google, the Galaxy Watch8 Series is the first smartwatch to come out of the box with Gemini11, Google’s AI assistant, and be powered by Wear OS 6. Go hands-free using natural voice commands to get things done on the go with Galaxy Watch apps like Samsung Health, Calendar, Reminder, and Clock. For example, saying “Start a 30-minute run” initiates the workout in Samsung Health.

Available in 44 mm or 40 mm sizes and in Graphite or Silver, the Galaxy Watch8 provides comfort and style. Meanwhile, Galaxy Watch8 Classic brings offers a rotating bezel and a quick button for added convenience. The Classic model measures 46 mm and comes in Black and White. Both models can be matched with a diverse range of bands12

For those who love outdoor adventures, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is the most advanced and durable Galaxy Watch model yet. The 2025 edition has a storage capacity of 64 GB, up from 32 GB in previous editions. In Singapore, a new Titanium Blue colour will be introduced as part of the launch.

For consumers who are looking for a more discreet wearable that offers continuous health tracking, Samsung recommended the Galaxy Ring. With up to seven days of battery life, the ring is available in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold, in sizes 5-1513.

Samsung also recently announced the availability of the One UI 8 Watch update for Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) to help more Galaxy users to unlock motivational health features.

1 Service only available with Galaxy Watch Ultra or later released Galaxy Watch Series. To measure vascular load, wear the Galaxy Watch when sleeping for at least three days out of the most recent 14 days. Not intended for use in detection, diagnosis, treatment of any medical condition.

2 Not intended for use in detection, diagnosis, treatment of any medical condition or sleep disorder. Bedtime guidance is available on Android phone (Android 11 and above) requires Samsung Health app (v6.30.2 or later). It is based on three days of sleep analysis of user’s circadian rhythm and sleep pressure.

3 Service only available with Galaxy Watch Ultra or later released Galaxy Watch Series. To measure, place the centre of your finger on the sensor at the back of the Watch and hold it for 5 seconds. While the Antioxidant Index can be measured using any finger, the thumb is recommended for the most accurate result. Repeated measurement due to uneven skin texture may lead to inaccurate results.

4 The Sleep Apnea feature is an over-the-counter (OTC), software-only, mobile medical application operating on a compatible Samsung Galaxy Watch and Phone. This feature is intended to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in the form of significant breathing disruptions in adult users 22 years and older, over a two-night monitoring period. It is intended for on-demand use.

This feature is not intended for users who have previously been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Users should not use this feature to replace traditional methods of diagnosis and treatment by a qualified clinician. The data provided by this device is also not intended to assist clinicians in diagnosing sleep disorders. Availability may vary by market, carrier, model or a paired smartphone.

CASIO announces G-SHOCK x ITZY SS2024 collection in Singapore

CASIO has announced new G-SHOCK shock-resistant watches as part of a spring 2024 promotion involving ITZY, the K-pop girl group that has been a G-SHOCK brand ambassador since February 2023.

In a promotional visual, ITZY members are wearing the new GMA-P2100SG-1A, GMA-P2100SG-4A, GMA-S120VA-7A, and GMA-S140VA-7A. The GMA-P2100SG-1A and GMA-P2100SG-4A, worn by Ryujin and Chaeryeong respectively, evoke the sight of a beach at sunset. These watches are based on the GMA-P2100, which is a smaller version of the popular GMA-S2100 analogue-digital combination timepiece.

The length of the band has also been adjusted to fit even slimmer wrists. The buckle and side button are made of stainless steel, enhancing the watch’s minimalist look. Key resin components used in the bezel and band are made with bio-based resin, a material produced using renewable organic resources that is expected to help reduce environmental impact.

Yuna and Yeji wear the GMA-S120VA-7A and GMA-S140VA-7A respectively, which are compact versions of the analogue-digital combination timepieces the GMA-S120 and GMA-S140, respectively. Clad only in white, the dials and hour markers have been finished with silver vapour deposition.

The G-SHOCK x ITZY SS2024 collection will be available on 12 April 2024, from 11 am at selected G-SHOCK stores and online.

The new compact Casio GMA-P2100W features the iconic octagonal bezel design of the 2100 line, presented in yellow in homage to the International Women’s Day tradition of appreciating women with gifts of mimosa flowers.

International Women’s Day, which takes place every year on March 8, was recognised by the United Nations in 1975. It is a day for celebrating the expanding opportunities for women to play impactful roles in peace, security, and development and to hold leadership positions in organisations and communities, as well as an opportunity to consider how to achieve further progress, Casio said.

The watch features a shorter band length to fit more slender wrists with enhanced comfort. The bezel and band are made with bio-based resin produced from corn and other renewable organic resources, which is expected to help reduce environmental impact.

As part of the brand’s efforts to reach out to more people, G-SHOCK has also launched WOMEN OF OUR TIME, a website dedicated to highlighting exceptional women across diverse fields who unabashedly challenge the status quo, and to exploring their relationships with time. Video features on the site examine the motivation that drives the creativity of 3D/CG artist YUKARI, G-SHOCK athlete and professional skateboarder Aori Nishimura, professional surfer Sakura Johnson, and professional skateboarder Cocona Hiraki. Behind the impressive accomplishments of these women is the hard work they have put in to overcome setbacks and their neverending spirit of challenge.

The G-SHOCK brand stands for a world where women can aspire to be anything and anyone they want to be. In recent years, Casio has been downsizing popular G-SHOCK watches to expand its lineup of more compact models that anyone can wear, sending a strong message that G-SHOCK toughness is for people of any gender.

The Casio watch Compact GMA-P2100W-7A is priced at S$159 and will be available to purchase from 1 March 2024 at https://gshock.casio.com/sg/contents/unstoppable_me/women-of-our-time/

CASIO launches new watches in time for 40th G-SHOCK anniversary, Singapore flagship store opening

Source: CASIO. The new flagship store at ION Orchard mall in Singapore.
Source: CASIO. The new flagship store at ION Orchard mall in Singapore.

CASIO has opened its flagship store at ION Orchard Singapore. The store features an iconic sculpture by Singaporean artist Jahan Loh - a metal half-body bust evokes a futuristic cyborg but fronted by a face of Casio’s iconic watch and its rounded rectangular bezel.

In conjunction with the launch, G-SHOCK has introduced its latest line-up of the G-SQUAD sports series. Designed for everyday wear, the DW-H5600 series models come complete with features and functions to support physical workouts, including an optical sensor for heart rate measurements and an accelerator sensor that counts steps.

The watches are designed to provide feedback for running, walking and other types of workouts. They also provide training analysis, recovery when sleeping analysis, and breathing exercises using the Polar library and even measure blood’s oxygen level. Finnish brand Polar is a Casio partner, and its technologies and algorithms can be licensed by third parties.

The bezel and band incorporate materials sourced to reduce environmental impact. The straps and case are made of bio-based resin, a polymer material derived from renewable organic resources obtained by chemically or biologically synthesising raw materials. A memory in pixel liquid crystal display (MIP LCD) keeps times and other measurement data clear and easy to read. Both USB and solar charging are supported.

The DW-H5600EX model comes in a special package with a replacement bezel and band. The band and bezel are printed with a section of the design drawings of the DW-5000C, the first G-SHOCK. The interchangeable bezel and band are also printed with the colourful lines of the module wiring diagram.

The DW-H5600 series watches, DW-H5600-1 and DW-H5600-2, are priced at S$399. The DW-H5600MB-1 and DW-H5600-2 cost S$419 each, and the DW-H5600EX-1 has a price tag of S$619.

The launch also celebrates the 40th anniversary of G-SHOCK, the rugged timepiece that was launched in 1983. The G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary RECRYSTALLIZED SERIES, a collection of three limited-edition models, was introduced to commemmorate the event.

The DW-5000 was the first G-SHOCK model to hit the market in April 1983. This special 40th-anniversary model is created using newly developed stainless-steel recrystallisation and deep hardening technology, which is applied to the first-generation DW-5000 and its full-metal counterpart, the GMW-B5000.

The DW-5040PG, a reissue of the first G-SHOCK model, has a recrystallised and deep-hardened screw-on case back, buckle, and band loop. The face displays the text PROJECT TEAM Tough, the name of the original G-SHOCK development team. The back of the watch has a black ion-plated (IP) finish, while the buckle and the band loop have a gold IP finish. Look out for four stars representing the number "40" on the loop. Both the bezel and band are made of environmentally-friendly biomass plastic.

The GMW-B5000PS features a recrystallised and deep-hardened bezel, band, and screw-on case back. A titanium carbide (TiC) coating creates a scratch-resistant surface. The face says SINCE 1983. The GMW-B5000PG has a recrystallised and deep-hardened bezel, band, and screw-on case back, all of which have a gold IP finish. The face is also decorated with SINCE 1983.

The backs of all three models are engraved with the 40th anniversary logo designed by Eric Haze, and the lower left button is engraved with a star symbol, identifying these timepieces as special models.

The 40th Anniversary RECRYSTALLIZED SERIES watches GMW-B5000PS, GMW-B5000PG as well as the DW-5040PG are priced at S$1,249, S$1,249, and S$449 respectively.

CASIO also announced that featured centrepieces created by Singapore artists have been placed at selected G-SHOCK stores. These stores will also carry a wider line up of G-SHOCK watches, including the MRG series, limited edition models and new launches.

Samsung unveils new wave of Galaxy devices

Samsung Electronics Company has introduced new Galaxy power devices: the Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 Ultra, the most powerful Note series yet; the Tab S7 and S7+ tablets; the Galaxy Watch3, a premium smart watch with advanced health features; Galaxy Buds Live, ergonomic earbuds; and Galaxy Z Fold2, the next-generation foldable smartphone.

Source: Samsung. The new members of the Galaxy ecosystem include from left: Galaxy Buds Live earbuds, the Galaxy Watch3 premium smart watch, the Galaxy Note20 series of smartphones, and the Tab S7 series of tablets.

“Never before have we relied on technology like we are today. It’s how we are staying connected as we navigate the extraordinary challenges faced around the world," said Dr TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

"Technology must make life easier, not more complex. That’s why we have introduced five new power devices. Alone, these devices are powerful tools to help you maximise work and play. Together, as part of the Galaxy ecosystem, they work together seamlessly so you can spend your time focused on what matters most.”

Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra

The Galaxy Note20 series works like a computer and lets users game like a pro. Galaxy Note20 Ultra is designed for Note fans who demand the ultimate in power and productivity, while Galaxy Note20 is for broader Note users looking to maximise their time for work and play.

A new S Pen and Samsung Notes features on the Galaxy Note20 series provide an even more powerful experience and extend to Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ for flexibility and convenience. A deeper relationship with Samsung’s longstanding partner, Microsoft, makes the Galaxy Note20 series and Windows PCs work seamlessly together.

• New S Pen

The enhanced S Pen has more lifelike precision1 for more accuracy and responsiveness. The S Pen’s five new Anywhere actions makes touchless navigation of your device –like returning to the home screen or taking a screenshot – as simple as a flick of the wrist.

• Better Samsung Notes experience

Samsung Notes easily straightens messy handwriting into legible penmanship. To help capture, edit and share your ideas across phones, tablets or Windows 10 PCs, the Samsung Notes app features autosave and synching capabilities, so users can pick up right where they left off as they move from device to device.

Giving feedback is also easier now that users can annotate and highlight PDFs in the Samsung Notes app. Record audio as you jot down notes, and just tap a word in the notes to go to that part of the recording.

What's more, everything is easier to find now that it's organised with new, intuitive folder management.

• Work smarter across devices

Microsoft’s Your Phone app with Link to Windows2 integration now enables users to easily access mobile apps directly from the Windows 10 PC. Send messages, manage notifications, synch photos and make and receive calls, all from a Windows 10 PC.

Users can add their favourite mobile apps to the Windows Taskbar or Start menu too. Later this year, the ability to run multiple apps side by side on a Windows 10 PC will be available.

Galaxy Buds Live

Galaxy Buds Live is Samsung's latest true wireless earbud, featuring an iconic design and comfortable fit while not compromising on audio quality.

The new Apple watches can call someone if you fall

Apple has introduced Apple Watch Series 4, a family of Apple watches which have been re-engineered to help users stay connected, be more active and manage their health in new ways.

While retaining the original iconic design, the fourth-generation Apple Watch has a display that is over 30% larger and a thinner, smaller case. Apple Watch Series 4 with watchOS 5 brings advanced activity and communications features, along with a new accelerometer and gyroscope which are able to detect hard falls, and an electrical heart rate sensor that can take an electrocardiogram (ECG) using the new ECG app1.
Source: Apple. The redesigned Apple Watch Series 4 has a larger display with thinner borders and curved corners.
Source: Apple. The redesigned Apple Watch
Series 4 has a larger display with
thinner borders and curved corners.

Jeff Williams, Apple’s COO said, “The completely redesigned Apple Watch Series 4 continues to be an indispensable communication and fitness companion, and now with the addition of groundbreaking features, like fall detection and the first-ever ECG app offered directly to consumers, it also becomes an intelligent guardian for your health.”

From September 14, Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS) will be available to order in 26 countries and territories while the Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS + Cellular) will be available to order in 16 countries and territories. Both models will be available in stores beginning September 21.

Apple Watch Series 4 comes in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. The back of Apple Watch Series 4 is composed of black ceramic and sapphire crystal, allowing radio waves to easily pass through the front and back for better cellular service. The digital crown now includes haptic feedback, offering a more responsive feel through the sensation of incremental clicks.

The speaker is 50% louder, optimised for phone calls, Siri and Walkie-Talkie, and the microphone has been relocated, to reduce echo for better sound quality. The device includes the S4 chip with a custom 64-bit dual-core processor, delivering twice the speed while maintaining the same all-day battery life.2

The user interface has been optimised for the larger display, allowing for app icons and fonts that are bigger as well as easier to read and tap, while complications - functions in a watch that do not tell time, but add functionality - have been enhanced to be more precise and informative. New watch faces take full advantage of the Series 4 display, from the customisable Infograph face, to the Breathe face, where the animation is timed around a deep breath. Additionally, a suite of motion faces, including Vapor, Liquid Metal, Fire and Water react uniquely with the curved edges of the case.

Health capabilities have been enriched. Apple Watch Series 4 enables users to take an ECG reading right from the wrist using the new ECG app via electrodes built into the digital crown and a new electrical heart rate sensor in the back crystal. With the app, users touch the digital crown and after 30 seconds, receive a heart rhythm classification. It can identify if the heart is beating in a normal pattern or whether there are signs of atrial fibrillation, a heart condition that could lead to major health complications. All recordings, their associated classifications and any noted symptoms are stored in the Health app in a PDF that can be shared with physicians.

With watchOS 5, Apple Watch intermittently analyses heart rhythms in the background and sends a notification if an irregular heart rhythm is detected3. It can also alert the user if the heart rate exceeds or falls below a specified threshold.

The fall detection feature utilises an advanced accelerometer and gyroscope, which measures up to 32 G-forces, along with custom algorithms to identify when hard falls occur. By analysing wrist trajectory and impact acceleration, Apple Watch can send the user an alert after a fall that can be dismissed or used to initiate a call to emergency services. If Apple Watch senses immobility for 60 seconds after the notification, it will automatically call emergency services and send a message along with location to emergency contacts.

With watchOS 5, Apple Watch becomes an even better fitness and workout companion. Battery life has increased to 6 hours. Activity competitions allow users to challenge other Apple Watch wearers, automatic workout detection provides an alert to start a workout while giving retroactive credit, and Yoga and Hiking are new dedicated workout types that accurately track the number of active calories burned and exercise minutes earned. Runners will appreciate the cadence feature for indoor and outdoor runs, and pace alerts for outdoor runs.

Customers can reach their friends with a tap of the wrist through Walkie-Talkie, a watch-to-watch connection that works over Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity4. The Siri watch face is more predictive and proactive, offering shortcuts and actionable content from third-party apps. WatchOS 5 also lets users listen to podcasts with Apple Podcasts on Apple Watch, and stream any podcast in the catalogue by using Siri. With Apple Watch Series 4, enriched complications offer a more detailed view of helpful third-party apps like Dexcom, which allows for continuous glucose monitoring, or Streaks, which shows daily progress on tasks.

Singtel NumberShare service supports Apple Watch Series 3 with built-in cellular

Singtel is now offering Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), which adds built-in cellular capabilities to the iconic smart watch. With cellular built-in, customers can stay connected to people and information with the watch alone.

Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular has been available to Singapore users since September 2017. The watch series allows users to stay connected, make calls and receive texts without their iPhone nearby, provided a compatible plan exists with their iPhone carrier. Previous generations of the watch relied on getting information directly from an existing iPhone*.

Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO, Consumer Singapore, Singtel, said, “We are pleased to be the first in Singapore to optimise our network to support Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS+ Cellular). Now, our customers can enjoy the unprecedented freedom of going about their activities with just their Apple Watch and staying connected to what matters to them, especially during the upcoming lunar new year celebrations.”

To help customers get started, Singtel has launched its NumberShare service which allows Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) customers to use the same number as their iPhone, as well as share data and talk time of their mobile plan. As an introductory offer, NumberShare is available for S$6.90 per month on a 12-month contract with the first three months free. With a plan like NumberShare, the watch user can enjoy a seamless, wireless experience with just AirPods, Apple's wireless version of earphones.

The third-generation Apple Watch is billed as a health and fitness companion with intelligent coaching features, water resistance** (50m) and a barometric altimeter that measures relative elevation.

And now, you can take calls on your Apple Watch

Apple has introduced Apple Watch Series 3, adding built-in cellular to the smart watch. Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular allows users to stay connected, make calls, receive texts and more, even without an iPhone nearby.

The third-generation Apple Watch is billed as a health and fitness companion with intelligent coaching features, water resistance of up to 50m1 and a new barometric altimeter that measures relative elevation.

Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two models, one with GPS alone and one with both GPS and cellular. Both feature a 70% faster dual-core processor and new wireless chip.

“We believe the addition of cellular will transform the way people use Apple Watch, providing a new sense of freedom since they can stay connected with or without their iPhone,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s COO. “Apple Watch Series 3 combined with the power of watchOS 4 is the ultimate device for a healthy life.”

The combination of cellular and watchOS 4 will allow Apple Music users to stream 40 million songs right from their wrist.

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) features a full LTE and UMTS cellular radio that switches seamlessly to cellular when it is away from an iPhone. Customers have the ability to make cellular calls directly with Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) and, when paired with AirPods, enjoy a seamless and fully wireless experience. The watch shares the same number as the owner's iPhone. To help get customers started, participating carriers are also offering special introductory cellular plans at launch.

Apple also pioneered an antenna design that uses the display itself as both a transmitting and receiving element for LTE and UMTS, while introducing a built-in eSIM that is over one-hundredth the size of a traditional SIM card. This makes over-the-air activation possible without compromising on space2.

Powering Apple Watch Series 3 is the S3, Apple’s third-generation architecture featuring a faster dual-core processor, which allows for quicker app launch times and smoother graphics, and, for the first time, enables Siri to speak using the built-in speaker. Apple designed a new custom wireless chip called W2, making Wi-Fi 85% faster and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 50% more power efficient, while still providing all-day battery life and keeping the size virtually the same as before. Apple Watch Series 3 also features a barometric altimeter that assists with tracking activity, flights climbed and outdoor workouts, including elevation gain.

WatchOS 4 features an updated Heart Rate app, giving more insights to heart rate, including measurements during resting, workout, recovery, walking and Breathe sessions. Customers can also choose to receive a notification when their heart rate is elevated above a specific threshold while inactive. Other watchOS 4 highlights include the proactive Siri watch face that displays the information users need most throughout the day, an enhanced Workout app with new interface, custom High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout type and auto-sets for pool swims. With GymKit, users will soon enjoy the ability to connect to their favourite cardio equipment and experience two-way synchronisation of data with just a tap3.

The redesigned Music app experience automatically syncs playlists like New Music Mix and Favourites Mix, along with the user’s most listened to music. Later this year, Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) will stream music, giving users access to any song from Apple Music, straight from the wrist. The new Radio app also enables listeners to access Beats 1 live or any Apple Music radio station while away from iPhone or Wi-Fi.

In addition to silver or space grey aluminium, Apple Watch Series 3 now comes in gold aluminium, along with silver or space black stainless steel cases. All pair with an assortment of new bands and styles. The Woven Nylon is updated with a new pattern and the lightweight Sport Loop effortlessly adjusts to fit wrists.

Apple Watch Nike+ has been popular, and this fall (roughly Q3 to Q4), the partnership continues with both models of Series 3 pairing with a new pure platinum/black Nike Sport Band or Sport Loop in exclusive grey. The Nike Run Club app has been updated to introduce new features such as Audio Guided Runs that deliver coaching and motivation from Nike’s elite coaches, athletes and entertainers, and Cheers which makes running more fun by allowing friends to send audio-based cheers as motivation. Just Do It Sundays continues to provide inspiration and rewards from participation in the world’s largest running community.

Apple Watch Hermès models come with built-in cellular and pair with a collection of new bands, including the Single Tour Rallye in perforated Gala calfskin, inspired by the classic Hermès driving glove, and the Single Tour Eperon d’Or, in printed Gala calfskin, inspired by the equestrian scarf pattern designed by Henri d’Origny in 1974. A new watch face, inspired by the Carrick Hermès watch, also designed by Henri d’Origny in 1993, completes the existing selection of Hermès watch faces.

TomTom Golfer 2 GPS Watch designed to help golfers improve

TomTom today announced the ultra-slim TomTom Golfer 2, a GPS Watch designed to help golfers improve their game by using automatic shot detection to give detailed post-round analysis.

Eliminating uncertainty by measuring distances to greens and hazards, the TomTom Golfer 2 uses automatic shot detection to help golfers understand their distance potential.  They can see distances for drives and approach shots at-a-glance and then analyse their strokes in TomTom MySports after the game. The auto scorecard tracks the score to make it easy for a golfer to see what is working in their game, and what improvements can be made.

“We know that often the best improvements simply come from knowing where you went wrong,” says Clive Millington, COO, TomTom.  “This is why we have designed such detailed post-game analysis for the TomTom Golfer 2 to show you where to improve, but also to know what you’re capable of.”

The ultimate round feature combines the best holes from a course that has been played regularly to demonstrate what a best potential round could look like. TomTom MySports post-game analysis gives insights into shot patterns and greens in regulation.  Rounds can be studied hole-by-hole.

The TomTom Golfer 2 uses graphics to easily visualise the best approach to the green, giving precise distances to front and back of the hazards on over 40K* courses worldwide.

Sleek, lightweight, water-resistant and durable for long-lasting comfort, the TomTom Golfer 2 is designed to be worn both on and off the course. It will be available in May 2016.
