Adidas Originals champions originality with Born Original fragrance duo

Source: adidas Originals.

Adidas Originals, the streetwear brand, is launching a new fragrance duo for men and women. Born Original offers two dynamic scents, one for men and one for women inspired by the courage to be the wearer's original self.

Born Original captures the energetic, empowering spirit of adidas Originals that’s rooted in individualism, authenticity and imagination. The Born Original fragrances For Him and For Her are an explosive mix of contrasting notes.

Born Original for Her begins with a bright cocktail of bergamot, apricot and orange zest. The top notes burst into a vibrant, candy apple accord. Tantalising tones of coconut, jasmine and tonka beans add an unexpected twist in the finish.

Born Original For Him is a classic oriental remixed with an ambery citrus accord. A fusion of violet leaves and rhubarb adds a green facet, juxtaposed with black pepper and orange oil.

The originality of the fragrance duo is echoed by the bottle designs that blend fluid, organic shapes with rough, industrial elements. Both bottles are made from glass at an intense stage of fusion, creating tactile ripples that give the flacons a dynamic, incomplete look. In contrast, the bottles are sealed with angular industrial-inspired nut collars and pin in rose gold for Her and steel grey for Him. Each is decorated with a strikingly large TREFOIL logo in glossy metallic colors that match the bottles.

Adidas Originals brings back the Superstar

Source: adidas.
This year, adidas Originals sets out to question what it means to be a superstar as part of a campaign to celebrate the legacy of the Superstar shoe, which was launched in 1969.

In a short film from adidas Originals, directed by Karim Huu Do, on what it means to be a superstar in 2015, Footballer David Beckham says: "It ’s not about trying to be the next big thing.’’ For Entertainer Pharrell Williams, "It’s not about the number of views, likes or shares’’. "It’s not about having your name on a flag or a jersey,’’ echoes pro Basketball player Damian Lillard, while singer-songwriter Rita Ora says, "It ’s not about following in someone else’s footsteps."

According to adidas, none of these superstars started out chasing fame. "Fame was a byproduct of their dedication and hard work. Whether it's 1969 or 2015 one thing is certain - there is no short cut to being a superstar," the company said in a statement.

The Superstar Vintage pack range is now available at adidas and adidas Originals stores, retailing at S$159. Adidas stores are at Marina Bay Sands, Suntec City, Plaza Singapura, Parkway Parade, ION, Paragon, Orchard Gateway, Bugis Junction, Jurong Point, Causeway Point, and JEM; adidas Originals Stores are at JEM, 313@somerset, Pacific Plaza, Changi Airport (Terminal 1) and TANGS Orchard. The pack can also be bought at Limited Edition Stores at JEM, 313@somerset, as well as Limited Edition Chambers at Marina Bay Sands.

“Queen of Prints” Mary Katrantzou stars in adidas Originals fall/winter collection

Source: adidas. Shoes from the Mary Katrantzou collection.

Fashion designer Mary Katrantzou, well known as the “Queen of Prints”, has collaborated with sportswear specialist adidas to create the adidas
Originals by Mary Katrantzou collection. The collaboration sees the launch of a series of apparel and footwear inspired by Katrantzou's designs.

Katrantzou’s work often blends bold graphics with architectural shapes and the latest technologies to convey a modern feminine aesthetic. In this collaboration, Katrantzou draws inspiration from past adidas shoe silhouettes and has incorporated product features like outsoles, laces, and pop icons into her own unique collection.

"When adidas first approached me, I took time to think about what I could offer that’s different, what I could say through the collection that they haven’t said before. I grew up, like so many other kids around the world, wearing adidas sneakers, and bringing my vision to such a global brand is a great challenge. They have a fantastic heritage and their ability to innovate in sportswear makes them the perfect partner for us to work with in this market. I believe that print and colour can come together to communicate perfectly to a wider audience,”
she said.

The collection is available in Singapore stores at the adidas Originals store at Pacific Plaza and online at shop.adidas.com.sg. Footwear from the collection will be available at the Limited Edition store at Marina Bay Sands.
